After launching its initial NAND flash business in 2003, SK Hynix successfully developed 512Mb NAND flash memory in February 2004 and achieved a double-digit global market share in 2005. This remarkable performance is the result of our intensive R&D and aggressive marketing.

While NAND flash was initially used for simple data storage in MP3 players, PMPs, digital cameras and navigational devices, its applications have since expanded to include smartphones, tablet PCs and solid state drives (SSD). As the technology and market share leader, SK Hynix is staying ahead of rapid NAND flash industry developments through introduction of higher-speed, higher-capacity products.

SK Hynix’s single-level cell (SLC), multi-level cell (MLC) and leading-edge triple-level cell (TLC) products come in wide range of capacities from 128Mb to 512Gb. In addition to our stand along NAND flash products, we provide the best NAND solutions to meet a variety of customer needs through our multi chip package (MCP), embedded flash and SSD solutions.

SK Hynix reentered the CMOS image sensor (CIS) business at the end of 2007. CMOS image sensors serve as electronic film and electronic eyes for a variety of IT and consumer devices. While it is a non-memory semiconductor, similarity of production process to that of semiconductor memories gave SK Hynix competency to successfully enter the CIS business.

Applications for CIS are expected to dramatically rise in the future. With SK Hynix’s CIS products scheduled to be adopted by a wide range of applications--including web cameras, miniaturized medical imaging equipment, and mobile phones—we plan to lead a new chapter in CIS market through high-resolution sensors manufactured on most advanced process technology to meet diverse needs of our customers.
