The 4th Edition
 Hynix develops DDR3 16GB LRDIMM
 Description
Hynix develops 240pin DDR3 LRDIMM (Load Reduced Dual In-Line Memory Module) to support the server industry¡¯s demand for high density memory.

The new LRDIMM has a proprietary buffer which dramatically reduces loading on the memory channel. This reduced load on the memory channel enables higher memory capacity not possible with industry standard registered DIMMs, while increasing speed performance.

The 16GB LRDIMM will be produced using 40nm class 2Gb DDR3 memory components. Both 1.35V and 1.5V power supplies will be supported. Hynix will begin sampling 16GB LRDIMM in the third quarter of this year.

The 16GB LRDIMM would be ideal in highly virtualized cloud computing applications, which require very high density memory to support increasing demands on server workloads.
