Development of DDR3 SDRAM operating at 1.25V
Product Information
Hynix has developed DDR3U(Ultra Low Voltage) product with 44nm technology.
DDR3U operates at 1.25V and can be used in server systems requiring low power consumption to lower utility costs. Now engineering samples are available.
Large server systems such as data centers consume enormous amount of power and generate heat which needs cooling for optimum operation. To lower the high cost of utilities, server manufacturers are demanding low voltage DRAM components. Operating voltages for DDR3 SDRAM have gone from 1.5V, to 1.35V (DDR3L), and now 1.25V(DDR3U). By end of this year DDR3L specification will be completed and standardized. Active discussions on DDR3U are ongoing at JEDEC (Joint Electron Devices Engineering Council) and will most likely be completed by early next year.

DDR3U will reduce power by approximately 10% over the 1.35V DDR3L. Hynix ¡®Good Memory¡¯ offerings include DDR3L as a green product.
