Meaning of present

The bitter cold of January is now behind us, and with February comes the harbinger of spring.
In Korea, the weather in January was very bad with brutally cold wind and frequent snow storms. But February has been a lot nicer, and we are already experiencing warmer days as we patiently wait for spring.
Recently, we celebrated the traditional lunar New Year also called the ¡°Spring season¡± holiday.
From late December to February, there are many Holidays like Christmas, New Years and Spring season.
We usually give and take presents during that holiday season.

What gifts did you receive this year. Or more importantly, what gifts did you give your loved ones?
In South Korea, food products, such as seafood, traditional sweets and traditional wine, are popular holiday gift items. I believe that the tradition of giving during the holiday season is common in all cultures and nationalities. We all like to make our friends and relatives happy during the holiday season.

Now let¡¯s think about the popular gifts during the last holiday season.
IT devices are becoming the major category in popular gifts. Not long ago, tiny MP3 Players or PMPs were the most desired gifts for children and young adults.
Recent surveys indicate changes in this pattern. Tablet PCs and Smartphones have now become the gifts of choice. College students generally pick a Notebook PC as the most desired gift.

I feel that younger generation prefer IT devices than traditional gifts. Of course, the younger generation is much better skilled in using IT products than the older generation.

But do you really think that your parents are not interested in Tablet PCs or Smartphones? If taught how to use these products, our parents could also make productive use of them and enjoy the conveniences they bring.

For the coming holiday season, how about giving a Tablet PC or Smartphone to your parents living far from you? May be, they can video chat with you and send frequent emails making this a good opportunity to restart communication with them.

Interestingly, in English, ¡°Present¡± has two different meanings. ¡°Gifts¡± and ¡°The present¡±
Please do not forget to give a ¡°Present¡±, a Gift, to your dear loved ones and bring joy to the present.

To paraphrase a popular quote, ¡°The Past is prologue, the Future is yet to come, and the Present is a gift¡±.

Please let your mind be filled with joy with the present.
