Description
1Gb LPDDR2, Low Power DDR2, is built on the Hynix’s leading edge 66nm process technology. It has maximum operating speed of 800Mbps at 1.2V power supply. It consumes less power but operates at a faster speed than mobile DDR1. With the fastest speed and small form factor package of 9mm x 12mm, it is designed to meet the needs of a wide range of mobile applications which demand high memory density and fast operating speed features.
 
It is the world’s first and fastest 1 Gigabit mobile LPDDR2. This product not only meets JEDEC standard but also is expected to lead international LPDDR2 standard.
 
Customarily, LPDDR components require 1.8V and transfer only 400Mbps. A requirement for both low power consumption and enhanced data processing speed has fueled the need of LPDDR2.
 
LPDDR2 product is designed to meet the needs of a wide range of mobile applications which demand high memory density and fast operating speed features. LPDDR2 can be activated on 1.2V and transfer 800Mbps.
What are the main applications?
The 1Gb LPDDR2 is designed for high performance mobile devices that demand small form factor and higher memory density.
 
When will 1Gb LPDDR2 be available?
We plan to start mass production of LPDDR2 in the fourth quarter of this year to meet the increasing demand for high performance mobile applications.
 
Major characteristics of LPDDR2
 
1. Deep Power Down
  : Mobile RAM provides Low Power functions, which will increase battery operation time of mobile devices
   
2. PASR (Partial Array Self Refresh)
  : Eliminates unnecessary row activations;
Refreshes 1/1, 1/2, 1/4, 1/8, 1/16 array
   
3. TCSR (Temperature Compensation Self-Refresh)
  : Programmable refresh for self refresh mode to allow the system to control power as a function of temperature
   
4. Driver Strength
  : Allows for drive currents to be reduced in point-to-point applications; easily adjusts to full, half, quarter, or eighth, based on memory bus loading
   
5. 1.2V Low Power
